Course Outline Upon receipt of deposit, participants will receive course manual, suggested textbooks, trip itineraries and equipment checklist. Cost includes all instruction both in the classroom and on the water, meals, transportation, first aid/cpr certifications and all non-personal gear (i.e. rafts, paddles, rescue equipment, etc.). Instructor to student ratios are limited to 1-to-3 in order to accommodate the entire spectrum of learning curves and styles. The general outline for the guide school includes minimal classroom time with the majority of the coursework taking place on the water in both paddle and oar boat scenarios. Daily topics include general whitewater skills such as reading water, river morphology, trip logistics, boat repair, river rescue, zero impact camping skills, camp cooking and a multitude of other topics that are imperative for competent whitewater raft guides. The overall ten-day itinerary is purposely left somewhat flexible based upon river flows and weather but typically includes stretches on the Truckee River, East Fork of the Carson River, North Fork of the American River, Upper Klamath River, Cal-Salmon River and the Scott River. Please call Lake Tahoe Central Adventures for information and booking, reservations are required for all of Lake Tahoe Central Adventures activities including whitewater rafting, snowcat skiing, and helicopter skiing trips. For further information or to sign up, please call 888.792.9222. |
